Care Assistant in Leicester
Visiting clients in their own homes across Leicester, helping with personal care, meals, medication and company.
About the Role
As a care assistant you visit clients in their own homes across Leicester, usually the same clients each week. You help people get up, get washed and dressed, prepare meals, prompt medication and keep an eye on how they are doing.
Most calls are between thirty minutes and an hour. You work from a written care plan, and you are never sent to a client you have not been introduced to or briefed on properly.
What You Will Be Doing
- Personal care, including washing, dressing and support with the toilet
- Preparing meals and drinks, and encouraging people to eat and drink
- Prompting medication and recording it correctly
- Support with mobility and moving safely around the home
- Light household tasks, laundry and shopping
- Company and conversation, which matters more than people expect
- Writing accurate notes after each visit and reporting anything that has changed
What We Are Looking For
- Reliability above everything else
- Patience, and the ability to work at somebody else's pace
- Respect for people's homes, routines and privacy
- Good spoken and written English for care notes and handovers
- The right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete induction and mandatory training
Helpful but not essential
- Previous care experience, paid or unpaid
- A driving licence and access to a car
- Any care qualification
Training and Support
Full paid induction before you work unsupervised, shadowing with an experienced carer, ongoing refresher training and a senior carer available by phone during your shifts.
