Why We Started
Murray Healthcare Services was set up in 2020 with a straightforward idea. Most people, given the choice, would rather stay in their own home. What usually stops them is not the size of the need. It is the lack of somebody reliable turning up.
So that is what we built. A small Leicester team, a proper assessment before anything starts, carers matched to people rather than slotted into gaps, and an office you can ring and get an answer from. Not a franchise, not a national brand with a regional number, and not a rota run from another county.
We are not the biggest agency in Leicester and we are not trying to be. We would rather turn work down than take on more than we can staff properly.
What We Believe
The person decides
Care is built around the individual and their routine, not around what suits our rota. If something is not working, we change it.
Dignity is not an extra
Washing, dressing and personal care are done at the person's pace, with privacy protected and nothing rushed.
Say the true thing
If we cannot cover an area, meet a timescale or deliver a task safely, we say so. Families remember who was straight with them.
Turn up
Reliability is the whole job. Everything else follows from carers arriving when they said they would.
Meet the Team
Our registered manager leads the service day to day and is accountable to the Care Quality Commission for how it runs. She is who you will speak to about an assessment, and who you can ask for if something needs sorting out.
Behind her is a small team of care coordinators, senior carers and office staff, all based at Kimberley House on Vaughan Way in Leicester city centre.

How We Recruit
The quality of a care company is decided at the recruitment stage, so we take it seriously.
- Application and interview, in person
- References taken and verified before anyone starts
- DBS checks appropriate to the role
- Right to work checks
- Induction training before working unsupervised
- Shadowing with an experienced carer
- Ongoing supervision and spot checks
We turn down a lot of applicants. Being available is not the same as being right for the work, and we would rather be short staffed than send somebody we are not confident in.
How We Keep the Standard Up
- Written care plans agreed with the person and their family
- Regular reviews, and changes made as soon as they are needed
- Supervisions and spot checks for every carer
- Feedback asked for, and acted on
- A complaints process that is written down and followed
- Registration with the Care Quality Commission, whose reports are public
Where We Work
We are based in Leicester city centre and we cover the city and the surrounding areas. Everything runs from that one office, which is why we can tell you honestly on the phone whether we can cover a call at the time you need it. See the areas we cover.
What We Are Not
Worth being clear about, because it saves everyone time.
We are a homecare service, not a nursing agency. Clinical care sits with the district nursing team and the GP, and we work alongside them.
We are not a crisis or emergency service. Our office is open during working hours, and in an emergency you should call 999.
We are not the cheapest option in Leicester, and we do not try to be. What we offer is reliability and consistency, which is what most families tell us they were missing before.
