Support That Works Around Your Life

Needing support with some things does not mean handing over the rest. Plenty of the people we support are working, studying, running a home or raising children. What they want is help with specific tasks at specific times, delivered properly and on time, so the rest of the day belongs to them.

That is what this is. Not a programme, not a timetable somebody else designed. Practical support agreed with you, written down, and reviewed when it stops fitting.

How We Help

Personal care

Washing, showering, dressing, hair, skin and continence support, done the way you want it done.

Moving and transfers

Support to move safely around your home, including help with equipment where our carers are trained for it.

Meals and nutrition

Preparation, cooking, shopping and support to eat and drink, following your preferences rather than a standard menu.

Around the home

Laundry, cleaning, bed changing, post, bills and phone calls.

Out in the community

Work, study, appointments, the gym, the shops, seeing friends and getting to where you actually want to be.

Overnight support

Waking or sleeping night cover, or live in support, where nights need somebody there.

You Direct Your Own Support

Some people call this a care plan. It is really an agreement about how you want things done.

  • Which tasks you want help with, and which you would rather manage yourself
  • Exact times, because a call at the wrong time is worse than no call
  • How you like transfers and personal care carried out, step by step
  • Whether you want the same carers, and any preference about who
  • What to do if you need to change or cancel a call at short notice

You are entitled to say a carer is not right for you and to ask for a different one. It is your home and your routine.

Equipment and Moving Safely

Where hoists, slide sheets, standing aids or other equipment are part of your routine, carers must be trained on that equipment before they use it with you.

We assess this before support starts and confirm in writing what our carers can and cannot do. Where a two carer call is needed for a safe transfer, we say so rather than sending one person and hoping. If a piece of equipment or a task falls outside what we are trained and insured for, we tell you plainly and help you find the right service.

Work, Study and Getting Out

Support does not stop at the front door.

  • Getting ready and out on time for work, college or university
  • Appointments, hospital visits and physiotherapy sessions
  • Sport, the gym, swimming, clubs and classes
  • Shopping, socialising and seeing family
  • Travel arrangements and support while you are out, where agreed

Working With the Professionals Involved

Many of the people we support already have an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a specialist nurse or a social worker involved.

We follow the moving and handling plan and any equipment guidance already in place. With your agreement we share what we notice, flag changes and take part in reviews. We do not change anything a therapist has set without going back to them first.

Paying for Support

Support can be funded privately, through a personal budget or direct payment from Leicester City Council, or through NHS funding where you are eligible. Eligibility is decided by the council or the NHS, not by us.

If you already receive direct payments, we can work with that arrangement. We give clear written costs after the assessment so you know exactly what you are agreeing to.

How Support Starts

  1. 1

Tell us what you need and when. No referral is required.

  2. 2

A free assessment with you, covering tasks, timings, equipment and preferences.

  3. 3

A written agreement and clear costs, then carers introduced before support begins.
