What Happens at the Assessment

We arrange a time that suits
Usually within a few days. Evenings and weekends can often be arranged if that is easier for family to be there.

Someone comes to the house
Usually our registered manager or a senior member of the team. It takes about an hour, sometimes a little longer.

We talk about the person, not the paperwork
What a normal day looks like, what has got harder, what they still want to do themselves and what worries you.

You get a written plan and a price
Sent through afterwards, setting out what we would provide, when, and exactly what it would cost.
What We Will Ask About
Nothing here is a test, and nobody has to answer everything on the day.
- The daily routine, and what has changed recently
- Getting washed, dressed and around the house
- Meals, appetite and shopping
- Medication and any appointments coming up
- Safety at home, including any falls
- What matters most to the person, and what they enjoy
- Who else is involved, from family to district nurses
- Whether care is being funded privately or through the council
Who Comes to the Assessment
Usually the person needing care and whoever in the family wants to be there. If somebody lives away and wants to join by phone or video, tell us and we will arrange it.
If the person is in hospital, we can often assess on the ward while a discharge is being planned. Tell us the ward and the timescale when you get in touch.
